Javier Rios, M.D.

Primary Care Sports Medicine

Board Certified & Fellowship Trained

Dr. Javier Rios is a board certified and fellowship trained Primary Care Sports Medicine physician. He obtained his medical degree and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Rios then completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Oklahoma at Tulsa College of Medicine.

His practice focuses exclusively on the diagnosis, management and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders. He is highly trained and capable of treating a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, whether they stem from an acute injury, chronic overuse, or normal wear and tear on the muscles and joints of the body.

Dr. Rios is highly trained to diagnose and treat a wide variety of disorders to the musculoskeletal system. This includes acute injuries like sprains and strains, nonsurgical fractures, and dislocations. He is also trained to treat chronic injuries caused by overuse or normal wear and tear.

In addition to the standard modes of diagnosis—discussing your individual and family medical history, conducting a thorough physical examination, and ordering and interpreting any necessary advanced imaging, such as x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)—he specializes in using ultrasound as a tool to guide injections into the shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist, knee, foot and ankle.

Dr. Rios will help diagnose the cause of your pain, develop and implement a minimally invasive treatment plan, and, if necessary, refer you to the appropriate orthopedic subspecialty for surgical intervention.

Whether your goal is a return to sport, preventing injury, or simply improving your quality of life, Dr. Javier Rios can help you move towards your goal by determining what is causing your pain and developing a treatment plan to correct it.
